Josef is a Swedish-Icelandic-Afghan filmmaker based in Stockholm.

His first independent short film, #Lookbook (2021), reached more than 12 million views. Built entirely from sequences of eye contact, it challenged the speed of contemporary cinema. Realized under the constraints of the pandemic, the project affirmed his dual role as contrarian director and logistically bold producer. He worked with 13 cinematographers across 4 continents to film 140 participants in 28 cities and 14 countries.

 

He is now in production of his first international feature, "Chicken Stew, Mountain Dew" —a Central Asian / Swedish village drama without actors, where real lives shape the narrative.
